Over one thousand workers signed a petition to get rid of the Australian Building and Construction Commission and the laws that remove civil rights. The petition was collected in just a few days before the long weekend. A delegation of unionist lead by the Victorian Trades Hall Council presented the petition to Richard Marles MP, member for Corio on Wednesday 11 June.
It is hoped that the Government will begin to take note of the call to disband the ABCC and repeal the unjust laws. Mr Marles was left in no doubt that workers would be back in person to see him if their petition was ignored.
