Workers at Huyck textile factory in Geelong joined their unions, the TCFUA, ETU and AMWU, and other supporters for a breakfast BBQ to kick off their campaign for better wages and conditions. The new EBA round is starting and the employer is only offering 2% increase while the CPI is nearly 4%. Workers know the cost of living is increasing and they should not have to suffer and reduce living standards while the bosses profits are forever increasing.
The breakfast ran from 7.00 to 9.00pm and was well attended by unionist and community supporters including other unions like the ANF, MUA, CFMEU, Plumbers, ASU and Printing. Geelong Trades Hall has pledged support for any campaign that the workers may decide.
