A great turn out and fine weather marked the first match of the Picket Cricket series. The Workers team lead by TCFUA organiser, Jenny Kruschel, beat the visiting supporters 18 runs to 6 all out. AMWU organiser, John Irvine, lead the Visitors claiming it was a hard game and the Huyck Workers were going to be hard to beat this season.
The match was held during a union community BBQ for the Huyck workers in the lead up to their EBA campaign. Bargaining periods were notified this week and the workers are keen to call 'game on'. The bosses are offering 2% at the moment.
One of the bosses from the USA was on site during the match and popped in to have a look. We are not sure he understands the rules just yet but he looks like a fast learner - at least he thought the BBQ rissoles were OK!
