Geelong Workers Strike For Better Pay

Workers at Huyck Wagner in Geelong have being trying to negotiate a new wages agreement for several months. But the boss is only offering 2%. This would mean workers go backwards in real terms.
About 100 workers from the TCFUA, AMWU and the ETU have voted to strike. The union representing the workers has taken out protected action and the workers had a 24 hour strike on Tuesday 16 September and another on Thursday 18 September.

Geelong Trades Hall endorsed the campaign and actions at a delegate’s Council meeting on Tuesday night and assisted the workers with a BBQ breakfast on both days at the front of the factory on Fellmongers Rd, Breakwater. Other unions and workers from nearby factories called in to say G’day and have a solidarity sausage.
The Dispute is continuing and is set to escalate this week when workers meet to decide the next step in the campaign to secure an agreement with livable wages and conditions.
